Anti-Freeze

I had the opportunity to go to the Aquarium with my family a few weeks ago in Long Beach, California. Who knew it would be so much fun!! Experiencing all of Gods beauty and greatness as we walked around and looked at all of the fish. The beautiful colors, the different shapes and sizes. Down to the details in the fish's eyes, it was breath taking. It brought so much joy to my spirit to see God even through just a trip to the Aquarium! As we walk, I'm reading and I see the Toothfish. It reads "toothfish have a special protein in their bodies, that acts as anti-freeze to keep the fish from freezing, enabling them to live in the icy waters of the Antartica." Amazing!!!
Just like these fish, God gave us a special protein to sustain life in the challenging circumstances that could possibly kill us... the Holy Spirit. Sometimes we are in freezing waters and it feels like we could freeze or drown at any moment. We are ready to give up and it feels like we can't make it through. Remember beloved, we too have anti-freeze that nurtures our souls and empowers us each day. We are not alone. The Holy Spirit is our comforter and he keeps us alive. He enables us to make it through each day, no matter how difficult and we are sure to freeze to death without Him.

Love,
Dot

In HIS Arms......

There's this song I really love right now called "In Your Arms," by Meredith Andrews.
Such strong lyrics...

And I'm in Your arms
Where I belong
There's no other place for me
Than right where You are
Some things just don't change
When I call Your name
You never hesitate to wrap me in endless grace
When I'm in Your arms

I was sharing my faith with someone and decided to send them these lyrics. As I'm reading and typing the words to this person, tears start to roll down my face and my soul is just overjoyed. To know that Gods arms are outstretched for us, gives me so much comfort. In a world where we search and search for loving arms, God's arms are constantly wrapped around us. These arms are like no other arms you've ever felt. Arms of unconditional love, arms of protection, arms of security, arms of endless grace. These are arms you don't have to fight with nor fight for, these arms fight for you. His arms are our hiding place, our safe haven and they never, never, never let us go. Take a moment to breathe, feel his spiritual arms holding you and remember that you don't have to walk this journey alone.

Love,
Dot

me great..." -Psalm 18:32-36

Traffic of Life

A few weeks ago I was in the car with my 5 year old god daughter and it was heavy traffic. I know you are already relating to me!! Of course, I get slightly annoyed and I said, "Uggh why does there have to be so much traffic?" Being the 5 year old that she is, she assumed I was asking her. So cleverly she says, "It's good Dot, it just means that you get to take breaks! You are driving and then you get to stop, driving and then you stop." I could not stop laughing! The innocence of a child. Not rushed, not feeling overwhelmed, not anxious, just merely enjoying the life God has given. As adults, we get so caught up in life, our to-do list, rushing to get everything done, rushing to get to our next destination. It seems we never embrace the moment God has us in. I think we should take a vow that in the midst of our busy lives we will purposely find the beauty in every moment, in every situation, in every relationship and in our everyday lives. We rush through amazing moments, all because we are trying to get it done. I challenge all of us, to embrace the traffic of life. No matter what is going on, breathe and find the beauty of that moment. I enjoyed the rest of that hour traffic with my god daughter, traffic never looked so good!!!

Love,
Dot

The Master Connection

A few weeks ago, my friend and I took a day road trip. We had a blast! We are both music guru's so we were very upset when the aux input distorted the music every time we plugged in one of our iPods. The connection made the song fuzzy and very low in volume. We could hardly understand the lyrics. This was very frustrating. How were we going to take turns playing our favorite songs for each other? Finally, I remembered that a new iPod connection cable had come with my car. We got it out of the glove compartment and plugged it in. With anticipation, we pressed play and the song came out loud and clear. Way too excited! All along we were plugged into the wrong connection.

What are you plugged into that's causing so much static in your life? Negative people, reality shows, social networks or your own thinking. All of these connections can cause our lives to seem hopeless and lacking peace. We get perspective from what we are plugged into and we make decisions based on what we are plugged into. Yes, my guilty pleasure is "The Housewives" too, but that show can’t give me sound advice for my life amongst all of the confusion. My advice to all of us, including myself, is to plug into theword of God. The biblical connection is the most fulfilling, peaceful and sustaining life that we could ever plug into. I've found that the more I'm on the internet, the more shows I TiVo and the more I pick up my smart phone, the less time I make for God; the more my world seems like it's in shambles. My mind is busy on the wrong things and my perspective is way off. I don't feel like myself. I can't hear the lyrics to God's tune and the noise around me seems louder than God's voice. We must take the time to plug into the word of God, so we can get a clear sound from above. We need the master connection. Life is too short for static!
